The Vögtetreffen 11.01.04 Summary

Dear Englishtown,

Here a short summary of the Vögte meeting held on the 11.01.2004. As the meeting was not held in a bilingual way I offered your Vogt (bliss) to do a short english summary.

1. Short introduction of the Mediators
Martin_Ostar (me!)and Smug gave a short introduction of what the mediators do.
I pointed out that there are generally 3 main responsibilities:
a.  Reprimanding unfair behaviour, offensive talk, cheating, or other violations of the rules.
b.  being someone to talk to in case of conflicts with other users that can't be settled by the users themselves or via a "Stadtvogt".
c.  be an assistance to the creators/admins in all things concerning fairness.

2. "Has the Fairness Agreement (FA)failed?"

The fairness agreement is a global (BSW) appeal that all Stadtvögte of the individual cities cooperate and pledge to help each other to enforce fairness, and to avoid offensive talk, cheating, etc. One point that is advised is that if there is just cause to, to follow other city blacklists in all the cities that agreed to the FA. This is voluntary though. Many feel this is too strict, some cities feel their individual decision is being stolen away.

3. The Mediator Vote (15.-20. of Jan.)
The candidates presented themselves shortly:

4. The role of the Stadtvögte

Throughout the meeting the role of the Vögte was discussed. Some Vögte wanted more guidance concerning their spectrum of responsibility over the boundaries of their cities. A suggestion was made to have advisors to individual cities where feasible (I volunteered to be your advisor if you like simply due to the language issue). Also the lack of involvement of the Stadtvögte was mentioned on an overall scale. The internal Vögte Forums are read to seldomly (always the same people) and the willingness to take on responsibility seems to be low. All in all a better cooperation was decided also with the Mediators.
