Have had a few discussions with folks online about what games we'd like to see added to EC.  Not sure what the timing is on building plans, but I know several of us are getting close to getting a game in our house (W15, right?), so knowing what others want and are thinking about could be beneficial.

New games seem to get so much play that when one is added, I think that's probably the best choice.  Could be especially nice in a house (particularly if the "homeowner" likes or wants to try the game) just in case the game fizzles to the point that we would prefer to have something else.  I volunteer my cave for such use if the timing is appropriate (I'm about to make W14, so might not make it for the next game), noone else really wants it, and we're not sure it's the best choice for a permanent building.

As for existing the 19 games that we do not (to my knowledge) have, here are my preferences (roughly in order):

Play a fair bit and wish we had a room:
Meuterer, Schrille Stille, Manitou, King Lui, Sticheln, Dudeln (have thought about creating some more english question sets, might be more likely to if we had a room)

Play a bit, but not enough to need a room:
Halali, Geister, Bluff, Backgammon, CCJuS

Have never played, but might like once I learn:
Bazaar, BohnDuell, Dvonn, Intrigue, TurnIt, Vabanque, Verrater, Yinsh

Don't know how the single games work, and haven't played any, so I've only commented on multi-player games.

Esterio: perhaps it would be nice to add a list of games we do not have to the Sticky post of games we do have.  If any friendly towns have most of them we could list their rooms there for folks to add to their .info file (perhaps even arrange an "exchange" of sorts?).

Thanks for your suggestion Squirrel, and for volunteering to host a game in your house. Esterio and I spoke about this very issue recently. I said that I was willing to have the game in my house (when I get it) be the game of the week, changing it when a new game comes out. This costs points however, so not everyone will be willing to do this.

You are right, we have quite a few players coming up to level 15. Based on current play rates, in November SpaceSquirrel should reach level 15.  In December, Myself, mitnachtKAUBO-I, and reikja should get to level 15.

Geenius, Vynd, ojuang and Kymanio are also close, but haven't been playing as much as the people above, if they had a BSW heavy month, they could have a game in a couple months as well.

In terms of which games, it would be good if we could hear suggestions from everyone who had an opinion. Myself, I would suggest Mueterer or CC-Hunter & Gatherers.

In terms of where to play games we don't have, I'm of two minds. Part of me says to go to EnglishTown (/room C10) where people speak English (like I do) and they have almost if not all games. However, they are a *really* big town and so part of me wants to go looking in the smaller towns for games we don't have.

As far as I can tell EnglishTown does have all the MU games.  Agreeing with the sentiments of Nicias I did some looking.

I understand Burgundy.Ridge (67) is english speaking, but we seem to have all the games they do.

I enjoyed playing a few games with the (english speaking) Canadians in C113 The.Great.White.North.  They have Sticheln in C113-27 and Backgammon in C113-6.

C63 Pirates Cove  seems to be a fun pirate themed offspring from EnglishTown.  They have (pasted from my new .prop):
MenuGamesNonEC-MeutererPC = */game C63-13
MenuGamesNonEC-BackgamoonPC = */game C63-31
MenuGamesNonEC-BluffPC = */game C63-44
MenuGamesNonEC-GeisterPC = */game C63-15
MenuGamesNonEC-KingLuiPC = */game C63-32
MenuGamesNonEC-SchrilleStillePC = */game C63-38

Will probably put ET rooms in my .prop for the other games we don't have for now.  Anyone have suggestions for other cities?

Here's my current nonEC .prop section in case anyone wants the same rooms but doesn't want to track down the #ers.  GWN is Great White North, PC is Pirate's Cove, and ET is EnglishTown.

With Alhambra and Metro gone, this discussion may become yet more relevant.  StreetSoccer and St.Pete have been put in their place, but it sound like we may get to change those at no cost.  We could do a poll, or if people feel like "weighting" their preferences (take 10 or 100 or however many points and assign them to the games), I'm willing to tabulate the results.

For more info on Alhambra and Metro see (in German)
http://www.brettspielwelt.de/cgi-bin/yabb1/YaBB.pl?board=Alles;action=display;num=1096496951

My lame attempt to summarize in English and spark discussion is at:
http://www.brettspielwelt.de/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=english;action=display;num=1096540422

I'll let someone who can really read German (or at least knows more) start a thread about it here.

Since we already have both a St.P and a StreetSoccer room in EC, I think we should change them since there's little need for duplicate rooms.  The decision for bobborobbo who used to host Metro should of course be up to him.  Alhambra was in a city room, C41-48 S'Moors.

My observation is that there are plenty of games rooms on BSW (perhaps too many?) so there is little chance of us building a room that will draw a lot of outsiders to play. I think our considerations should be towards games that we want to play but don't have a room for.  With that in mind, here's my list:

Meuterer I recently learned it and have had a lot of fun playing with other munchkins.
Backgammon It'd be nice to have a room in EC when we host city league games.
Yinsh I recently learned this as well so I'd like to play more.
Dvonn I'd like to learn so having our own room would promote that.
Geister Same as Dvonn -- looks like a fun quick game.

If life is a game, God made it a quite complexe one. He must have had a hard time working it out. The big question is: if it IS a game, shouldnt we take the small things less serious and have some fun?

I am voting for
Meuterer
(played it once and it looked like fun for quite a lot of games),
Sticheln
(easy game, at least 20 points for any player what really might be a reason to visit the room at EC for many of the
players around...)
and last but not least, Backgammon, my all time favorite.
i stopped almost playing it since i moved in.  Wink

lot's of games to choose off. so choose wisely! reikja

Hello all!

I can't really judge concerning the games I haven't played yet. They are probably all a good choice (another incentive to learn them  Roll Eyes).

Personally, I like dudeln quite a lot and I would be willing to  to work on another English-Set with some help.

Backgammon is another of my favourites.

Games I most often have to go out of town for, in order of frequency of play:
Schrille Stille
Sticheln
Bluff
Backgammon

That said, Sticheln is the one I miss most.

Zitat
Why not wait for the new games that will be in BSW soon?

We already have to choose two new games to replace the ones which have been removed (Alhambra and Metro). I am not sure how long we are allowed to wait before getting the free replacement. If already available games are interesting enough, we might as well get them now.
Besides, we should have enough resources to afford building an extra game room if needed, or we may wait a few more weeks till some new munchkins reach level 15, which should happen quite soon.

All that doesn't mean, of course, that I'm not eager to discover the new games too. Wink

This is what Alynscia wrote about the procedure and the deadline concerning requests for new games:

Zitat
heyho,

Translation:
She will send every 1 or 2 days a list to TAMM with the requests. She would like everyone to decide the latest in a week (I guess that means about today if I look at the date of her post Quite Embarassed ). She also states that this does not mean that she won't send to TAMM requests that are coming in later.
Some cities already announced a delay.

I guess that means we should decide rather soon.

Looks like it's Mueterer. I will email this Alynscia and tell her to switch S'Moors to Mueterer.
