For anybody else who's challenged to get the umlaut over the 'o' in Flöhli's name, hold down the ALT key and enter 148 on the numeric keypad.

"oe" for "ö" is what people used to do with typewriters, I didn't know that linux has so much nostalgic value....

You are right, "Floehli" is read as "Flöhli" but I am sure she also tolerates a "Flohli". I think it doesn't look too weird to German speakers but perhaps I am just living for too long in a French speaking area (many French speakers tend to ignore foreign accents, which is their right, as I do the same with accents in French )

As it is easy to type ö with the most common type of keyboards in France (azerty), I would say this ö is as likely to be typed as o than é would be typed as e, for instance (that is, quite commonly on the Internet, since people are much more careless about accents).

As for ß, I have redefined the function key F1 to display it in my BSW client

I actually downloaded a program to make a new keymap for me, so ö is Crtl+Alt+2
