The porcupine is primarily nocturnal and may rest by day. When threatened, the porcupine places its snout between its forelegs and spins around presenting its rear to the enemy.

Sorry, I'll send the games out later tonight.  I had a job interview today so I'm a bit behind on EC stuff.

Again, I'll play catchup tonight, when the kids are sleeping.

I lost my SJ match against coyote74 of Andoria. Sad

He wanted best-of-1 (which always makes me suspicious) and then proceeded to get all the breaks at the beginning of the game. His gold mine paid off the first three times: city hall, palace, city hall! grrrr Mine paid off once near the end of the game. I was at least 3 buildings ahead of him and I had the crane so I kept upgrading my cheap buildings but I couldn't find anything worthwhile -- no 5-point monument, no city hall (which he spent at one point so I knew it was in the deck), no guild hall. I had a library and prefecture so I kept choosing Mayor and sifting through 8 cards, but like Yukon Cornelius of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, I got nuthin'.

Another loss, this one against HCA of Chinatown in StreetSoccer.  Sad  Of course, he has a winning percentage of 69% and an ELO of almost 1500, so it wasn't a surprise. I could have asked for best-of-1 to help my chances, but I'm too noble for that.  Wink  I won the first game thanks to some great dice rolls, but that luck went his way the other two games. Good dice plus excellent position gave him easy wins in the last two games. I'm pretty sure I learned some new tricks from him so I'm ready to play again when needed.

Paul, i didnt want to criticize you *smiles* i was just surprised. You and Greg both do a great job and invest so much time, especially with you family. And with the added disadvantage of the time difference there was NO way that you could have wrote that email before that guy asked me *g* so dont worry Smiley
Thanks for all the time you spend on this, both of you!!

Jocy, who *knuddels* both Paul and Greg for the work they do, and who remembered to post this, although pinchen forgot Wink

Don't know what week it was (drop dead 1/29):
SpaceSquirrel
of Emerald.City
hosting
Hammer-BS
of Andoria
In CafeInternational.
SpaceSquirrel wins 2-0 (bo3).
According to Hammer-BS that gives us the win against Andoria 8-4.

Incredible luck for me both games, not much more to it than that.
Times are Pacific USA (GMT-8) on Friday Jan 20, 2006

(15:48:58) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by Hammer-BS; with 2 players).
(16:06:39) -- SpaceSquirrel reached 152 points, including 152 points for placed guests and 0 points for remaining cards in hand.
(16:06:40) -- Hammer-BS reached 115 points, including 120 points for placed guests and 5 points for remaining cards in hand.
(16:06:40) -- Notably, SpaceSquirrel won the game with 152 points. (17:41 min.)

(16:06:49) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by Hammer-BS; with 2 players).
(16:29:13) -- SpaceSquirrel reached 89 points, including 94 points for placed guests and 5 points for remaining cards in hand.
(16:29:13) -- Hammer-BS reached 71 points, including 81 points for placed guests and 10 points for remaining cards in hand.
(16:29:13) -- Wow, SpaceSquirrel just put it away with 89 points. Without equal. (22:23 min.)

City Cup Match (round of 16?)
Ingoschi of ParadiseCity
hosting
SpaceSquirrel of Emerald.City
In CafeInternational
SpaceSquirrel wins 2-0 (bo3)

Fell way behind in game 1, but made some risky plays and got some lucky draws for the come from behind victory.  Game 2 I started with all women and it was a very slow developing game, but I got better tiles (lots of wilds) in the mid-game and built up an insurmountable lead.

Looks like I'm just climbing up the ladder this weekend.  First was Hammer-BS 1402 ELO (#92 with an impressive 70.59 winning %), then Ingoschi at 1408 (#84).  Next up are DJSunshine at 1415 (#73), and the real prize will be Sir_Dooth with a 1500 ELO (#15) and an unreal 600 of 819 record (73.26 winning%).

I guess I haven't played many high ranked players as my 62 of 93 (66.67%) has only earned me a 1346 ELO thus far (#218)

Coincidentally, Sir_Dooth has won 6 medals in SoloSanktPetersburg (my solo game of choice), and Hammer-BS recently put up the third best all time score of 1898 which  I expect will win the gold for January.

Enough bragging and statistic-checking.  I think I'll go practice.

Played Pacific USA Time (GMT-8) on Saturay, Jan 21, 2006
(14:05:28) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by Ingoschi; with 2 players).

(14:22:08) -- SpaceSquirrel reached 126 points, including 126 points for placed guests and 0 points for remaining cards in hand.
(14:22:08) -- If SpaceSquirrel hadn't gotten 126 points, then the game wouldn't have ended so classy victoriously. (16:40 min.)

(14:22:28) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by Ingoschi; with 2 players).
(14:41:10) -- Ingoschi reached 68 points, including 78 points for placed guests and 10 points for remaining cards in hand.

LifeLine of Reflection
hosts (match 15? drop dead 5Feb2006)
SpaceSquirrel of Emerald.City
In CafeInternational
(played in EC because the Reflection room was in use).

SpaceSquirrel wins 2-0 (bo3).

As I was finishing up my commentary following the Ingoschi match LifeLine signed on.  Since I had failed to mention him at all, I thought for sure I would be handed a karmic defeat.  I had cent luck throughout, and great draws at the end of each game made up for my mistakes, and pulled out a win in "straight sets".  It must have been Jocelyn25 and puppet Xanadu's cheering that balanced out my inflated ego and let lady luck smile on the Emerald.City.

Times, as usual are Pacific USA (GMT-8).
Game was played on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006
(15:15:50) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by SpaceSquirrel; with 2 players).

(15:37:03) -- SpaceSquirrel reached 113 points, including 118 points for placed guests and 5 points for remaining cards in hand.
(15:37:03) -- In an exemplary manner, SpaceSquirrel won the game with 113 points. (21:13 min.)

(15:38:12) Gamemaster: The game begins! (Started by SpaceSquirrel; with 2 players).
(15:57:02) -- LifeLine reached 102 points, including 117 points for placed guests and 15 points for remaining cards in hand.
(15:57:03) -- SpaceSquirrel reached 119 points, including 119 points for placed guests and 0 points for remaining cards in hand.
(15:57:03) -- Now SpaceSquirrel has won extraordinarily with 119 points! (18:50 min.)

Nice work E, enjoy.  That puts us up 3 games to 1 against CT, assuming my memory is holding up.  Need one more to slam the door on another team.
