Ligaspiele zu kurz?

Puuuuh, I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to translate the previous messages to get the global idea. I'm not sure to have understood everything, but I think I got the point.

Concerning the bo7 (or even bo9) in Bundesliga, I think this is a good idea and I wonder why it's not already like that ! Players in Bundesliga are definitely no newbies and would probably all appreciate this. Who did never thought after losing an unlucky match : "Ralala, this guy has too much luck, give me more games and I'm gonna show him who is the best one !!!" ?  

This may be different in lower ligas where there are a lot of players to play "only for fun" and who do not care so much about what their ranking is going to be like at the end of the season.

Concerning the fact that it makes matches longer, I think that it's not "so much longer" that this should be key point. When you consider the time you spend to look for your opponents, to /tell them once you've found them, to ask politely "Hi, would you have some time for our CS liga match ?", the time to remind the rules : "b-o-x with or without /option start ?", I think 2 more games are not so much...

By the way, could the /option start be "in the rules ?", to make players play equally "as the first one" ?

La discussion de l'option "start" se situait déjà cette saison. Ce qui est écrit en allemand dans le thread des résultats: les jouers qui se rencontrent ont chacun le choix de proposer des options, l'option "start" inclu. Pour le faire moins compliqué, je ne voudrais pas ca comme obligation. De toute facon - parce qu'il est poli de le faire - l'autre joueur est d'accord en général. Par contre, je n'ai jamais remarqué que l'autre dit non pour change de start, et moi non plus je n'ai jamais dit non. Laissons-le une option et pas une obligation !

Könntest Du bitte so nett sein, und die obigen 2 Posts auch ins Deutsche übersetzen?

That's quite normal, I think.
The Do-what-you-want-But-no-start-option-is-default rule
is from season #1 (or even #0 if you count the qualifier).

At the end of that season I got my first hey-what-about-
option-start-All-players-play-it-like-this experience.
It was clarified more than once, but I've got this experience
for several times in later seasons, especially with promoters
from the second league, who were told, it was normal and
due to the rules to invoke that option.

After having played 9 seasons I still don't know who was
the one with the disinformation to new members of the BL,
but I can only repeat my statement in the other thread:
As the LL I created the rule "play whatever option you want,
if you want it both (all for team)". It's okay to do so.
It's not okay to tell other people wrong information about
the rules or force other players to change rules (that was
the first thread about). Maybe nobody dared to force me
as a long time LL, TM and GM, and maybe I wouldn't let them
force me (just being enervating ), but it's unbelievable
that this could happen in our CS league. We won't allow this
to happen again (and the last season showed me that this is
accepted - at last).

So if you want to play with option start, you're still free
to find partners who accept it. The reason, why I don't accept
it any more since about season #2 is described above. It wasn't
that I still believe, that it makes no real difference
(just "felt" fairness, just like in TopRace ) but increases
the unfairness in unfair situations (rolls); no, it was
just the ignorance of the rules and that someone tried
to make his own rules for all players...

Hm anstrengend - neee ;-)
Kurz: er wollte Option start als Pflicht und ich hab gesagt "lassen wir es eine Option sein" - er postete dann, dass bisher auch nur SLC der einzige gewesen sei, der der Bitte auf wechselnden Starter nicht nachgekommen iss. Und SLC's Post übersetze ich schon gar nicht - der iss ja noch länger ;-).

I think I have to post a reply because there must be some misunderstanding.

My remark (I apologize for having answered in french, it doesn't help good understanding) was not against SLC. Sure we can play without the start option, it doesn't make a big difference and it's clear that it's not in "THE rules".
Anyway, I think it makes people more "relax" to accept this kind of agreement, like when you accept to play in your opponent's room rather than yours if he asks for, etc. A kind of "etiquette" stuff: it probably won't change much to the dices, but you avoid to make your opponent frustrated (that may be the fact if you refuse this "optional option" and always get the first roll... ) unless this may be a strategy !!!
This is why I like this option and I think I'm not the only one. Most people accept the "/option start" when asked politely and before everything starts. Most of times, the dilemma is about choosing if we use it for games 2-4 or 2-5 rather than if we use it or not.
So, this was just a suggestion. No problem if things remain like that and if some players refuse to use the start option. I hope though, that other players will keep using this gentlemen option, as well as saying "that was a good match, I wish you good luck for the end of the liga !" and so many other sweet things that I like to exchange with good partners.
