it s been some time that i play on BSW, and what realy shocked me , that there is some people so rude, so agressive, and they realy consider playing here as a "job", of course there s some ethics in playing, communicating with other players, agreeing with them....
any way, i want to post this conversation: (by the way,i was also mean, i hate narrow minded people)  :

""  ThePilgrim: just letting you know that I reported you for dropping
Du sagst: HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh
ThePilgrim: if you start a game of carcassonne, you should finish it...
Du sagst: there s things in life more important than a game, i said sorry and left
Du sagst: so?HuhHuhHuhHuhHuhHuh??
ThePilgrim: no you didn't... you just left
ThePilgrim: furthermore you should leave, regardless what you say
Du sagst: so, i excuse then
ThePilgrim: yeah, but you'll be blacklisted for that
ThePilgrim: so don't bother
Du sagst: i dont care
ThePilgrim: good for you... i'm dying to see how long you will last on bsw
Du sagst: go have a life
ThePilgrim: go learn how to play...
Du sagst: how old are you by the way?
ThePilgrim: none of your business
Du sagst: also rude........mmmmmmmmmmmm
ThePilgrim: i just think it's none of your business... it's not rude
Du sagst: are you the saint of carcassonne
Du sagst: don t be childish
ThePilgrim: no, i just don't like people dropping
Du sagst: so, dont be childish, it s agame after all,
Du sagst: and i said i m sorry, so what do u want more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ""
so... i want to know what kind of community are we building here? narrow minded people, who dont want to accept apologies nor communicate, just want to report, and blacklist people, !!!!! come on, we re not in a military acadmy, nor "stasi"
i know it s not nice to  quit a game, but does it require all the fuss that mr. thepilgrim did?

p.s. on the other hand there s plenty of nice and good people, who still have their human "side", and who are also good players,

thanks a lot

Hello, hishmish,

if you are playing in real with a friend and you get a call and have to leave, do you get up, say "sorry" and leave? I don't hope so, it would be very unpolite. I hope you will say: "Sorry, my mother had an accident, I got to leave at once." ...or whatever happened.

It's the same here in BSW: you are sitting at a table and playing with a real partner, only him sitting far away from you. It's far from being polite just to say "sorry" and run away. The more because he cannot see if you got a call or something else happened. I really can understand your partner being upset and angry about that kind of manners. Is it that difficult to give an explanation why you got to leave?

greets,
Ingrida

hishmish,

your profile tells that your haven´t been at BSW too long (as well as your opponnent), so just some informations:

1. It is considered rude in BSW to publish chatlogs without XXXing the other´s names or to publish other players´ names without their agreement.

2. You are correct with your headline (site for playing games), but most people here understand "playing = finishing". Your opponent has a tremendous CC-record, so it is reasonable that he is interested in finishing his games.

3. Maybe he has made bad experience in his earlier CC-games. As far as I know there are two strategies in CC, building and blocking - the blockers seem to be more successful. Maybe because of this, CC is one of the games with the highest dropping percentage (but still quite low), especially 1-2 tiles before the end. So I can understand that CC-players who take care of their record (which looks okay for me) are sensitive when someone says "sorry, I must leave - bye" and drops out.

4. You gain points only for finishing games, with these points you can achieve higher rankings in BSW. So it is considered rude to take away the opponent´s points by leaving before (besides the reason Ingrida wrote). To protect other players from this behaviour you can report such incidents (in your eyes "stasi", it´s your point of view). This reports help to select those who permanently drop out of games.

5. Your opponent and you are living in ARMfeld (= the standard town in the BSW meta-game), ARMfeld has no blacklist. I doubt very much that you will do it into another town´s blacklist because of this incident. So don´t worry.

6. This is a community for all kind of people, so it´s normal that you meet someone you don´t like and vice-versa. Like you wrote in your PS, there are a lot of people here you like better - play with them and chat with them.

When reading your conversation I have the feeling that both are quite aggressive. I don´t judge who is right, you dropped out without told reason, he started this attack (probably the next day or so). What would have been your answer if he had told you his age?
- "17": my little boy, you better do your homework and return to your sandbox instead of giving advices to adults
- "38": I can´t believe this, you talk and whine like a little boy.
It was a wise decision of him not to enter this road.

In a big community you have lots of nice people and some that are not.

Both of you think of the other not to be nice. So don't play with each other. Play with the people you consider to be nice.

Playing here longer grows you bigger lists of both people.
