Object of the Game

In Explorers you explore a new world as an explorer, travel through different landscapes and collect resources and objects that give you advantages or victory points .

The Rules

Before the start of the game

Everyone places 3 crosses in a terrain type starting from the starting village.

Flow of the game

The game runs over 4 rounds with 7 moves per round.

At the beginning of each round, 7 exploration cards are laid out face down.

As the active player, the starting player reveals the first card, chooses one of the two terrain types on the card and places 3 crosses on his game board.

< p> All other players either place 3 crosses on the terrain type that the active player did not choose or 2 crosses on the same terrain type as the active player.

Rules for placing crosses:

  1. One cross must always be placed horizontally or vertically (orthogonally) adjacent to an already existing

cross (including the starting village).

  1. It is not mandatory that all crosses in a move are placed adjacent to one another.
  2. Each cross in a turn must be placed on the same terrain type (an exception is the joker card).

Joker cards show 2 terrain duos . The players choose one of the duos according to the rules and are allowed to distribute their 3 or 2 crosses on the two terrain types.

Then, as the active player, the next player reveals the next exploration card, chooses a terrain type, etc.

The round ends when all 7 exploration cards are revealed and dealt with.

The victory points for provisions and gemstones are entered.

The next player becomes the starting player following round.

The game ends after the 4th round. All villages are scored and all additional points for provisions, gems and temples are added.

The player with the most points wins the game. In the event of a tie, the player who used the fewest cards wins. Unused keys and maps no longer give points.

Places and objects

If you place a cross on a field with an object, you benefit from its effect:

Maps can be used in a later turn to ignore the terrain type specified on the exploration card and instead place 4 crosses on another terrain type.

Provisions

The corresponding provisions are marked on the scoring tile. It is divided into 4 columns, one for each round.

A provision can only be crossed out on the landscape if it is still available on the scoring tile in the column of the current round.

At the end of each round, players receive 2, 5 or 10 points for 1, 2 or 3 different provisions that were marked on the scoring tile in that round.

Gemstone

Place a cross on a gemstone on the scoring tile. At the end of each round, players receive as many points as the total number of gemstones marked on their scoring tile.

Temple

Players can only place a cross on a temple if they still have an unused key.

If several players place a cross on the same temple in the same turn, they all score number of points available at that time.

Provisions: At the end of each round you receive 1, 4, 9 or 16 points for 1, 2, 3 or 4 provisions of the appropriate type in the appropriate column on the scoring tile in this round. In the first round no provisions are collected and no points are awarded, in the 2nd round only apples etc.

Gemstones: The gemstones at the beginning of the scoring line have negative numbers (minus points). At the end of each round, all negative gemstones that are still open or all positive gemstones that have been collected are added up.

Temple: The temple rules remain the same, However, each temple only provides 8 points. In addition, players receive a number of crosses (depending on when they explore the temple), which they can place on a terrain type of their choice at the end of their turn.

Villages: You score exactly one village - the one with the lowest number of orthogonally adjacent crosses. You receive 12, 18, 26 or 40 points for 1, 2, 3 or 4 adjacent crosses on this village.

Order tiles (level 1 - 3)

Depending on the level of difficulty, 1-3 order tiles are revealed that apply to all players and the offer new opportunities to score points.

Receive 6, 8 or 16 points if you have not placed crosses on any of the depicted objects at the end of the game.

Depending on how many of the required objects you have collected at the end of the game, you will receive the corresponding points (e.g. Apples, villages with 4 adjacent crosses, sets of 3 different types of provisions, crosses in the corners of the landscape).

As soon as you meet the required condition, you get the highest available score (e.g. 3 horses, 3 carrots and 3 apples, at least 3 crosses on each quadrant of the landscape).

If multiple players reach the goal in the same turn, they all receive the highest number of points available at that time. For the remaining players, the points are removed accordingly.
