LessIsMore is a guessing game for 3 - 6 players. In each round one player becomes a guesser. The other players are given a term (compound word) which they then try to describe with as few letters as possible. For example, to explain "bank vault," players could write "money house closet safe." Or maybe just “money safe,” because players are allowed to leave out letters from words. The guesser tries to guess the term using the clues.
The player who needs the fewest letters and is at the same time "understood" by the rater receives points together with the rater. Whoever has the most points at the end wins the game.
The complete rules can be found here.
The starting player chooses a difficulty level: Green (Easy), Yellow (Medium) or Pink (Hard).
The other players now see a compound word that they should describe.
Now all whistleblowers try at the same time to describe the term. To do this, everyone writes one or more words on their writing board using the keyboard.
The words can also be written shortened and letters can be left out. Each whistleblower is allowed to shorten their description as they see fit (and hopefully understandable to the guesser).
The fewer letters a player uses, the sooner he can show his clue to the guesser and the more points he gets for it.
< span>The number of words doesn't matter and spaces don't count either.
The clue giver with the lowest number can now be the first to show his description to the guesser.
The rater can now try to guess the term they are looking for using this description.
If the rater does not guess the term, the clue giver's description is included the next higher number is revealed. Then the one with the next highest number, etc.
If the number of letters is the same, it goes according to the seating order.
If the guesser also follows If the whistleblower does not guess the term in all descriptions, all whistleblowers receive 1 point. In this case, the rater gets no points.
If he guessed correctly, only the guesser and the clue giver with the successful description receive points.
If the guesser is correct after the first description, they both receive as many points as how there are total players.
For each clue giver whose description he does not guess, the guesser (and the clue giver) each gets one point less.
In addition, there are extra points depending on the difficulty of the term:
GREEN (EASY):0, YELLOW (MEDIUM):1, PINK (HARD):2
The clue giver whose description allowed the rater to guess the term always receives the same points as the rater.
All clue givers are of the opinion that the term was guessed correctly, even if the guesser's spelling does not exactly match the given word , everyone clicks on "Objection" and then in the window that opens clicks on "YES" for "The term guessed by the guesser is correct" - then this guessing attempt is considered successful.
It No words or abbreviations may be used that are identical to the term to be guessed or its root word. Example: If the term “typewriter” is searched for, you cannot use the word “write” as a description.
This applies to every form of the word and therefore would also be words like “write, write, wrote, written” but also “writing” is not allowed because it is the same word root.
Foreign language translations are not allowed.
If an error occurs and a whistleblower has violated the rules, everyone clicks on "Objection" and then in the window that opens for “The term from the whistleblower is allowed” to “NO” and the round ends immediately.
This can happen because, for example, a whistleblower has written down the term they are looking for and/or the root of the term or a translation.
All players except the whistleblower who made the mistake receive 2 points. Then a new card is drawn and the round is repeated.
A number of rounds are played until every player has been a guesser once. Then the game ends and the player with the most points wins.
