Trans America is a rail placing game where you try to interconnect your cities as almost as possible.
Each player must connect five cities (one in each colour).
Each player determines where to place their start marker. From there they must connect their cities with as few connections as possible by connecting to other players routes. The player who connects their cities first, finishes that round. Everyone starts with 13 points. For every piece of track needed to complete their routes (after the first player has played out) becomes a negative point. This is subtracted from the 13 to give the running total for each player.
At the beginning of each rouind, players place their starting markers sequentially. Click on any intersection on the map (it doesn't have to be a city!) From this starting marker, players build a network with the aim of connecting all five of their cities (one in each colour).
Each turn, a player can place 1-2 rail sections, by clicking on the desired line on the map. The players may expand their network from their starting marker. If the networks of two or more players are connected, then connected to the enlarged network can place anywhere from this new network.
Difficult sections over mountains and rivers (red lines) cost 2 sections of track. You can therefore only place one rail over this terrain during your turn.
You do NOT have to place two rails. If you wish to place only one rail section, then click "Continue" after placing the first rail section.
The player, who connects his five cities first, ends the round immediately. The round ends, if a player connected all cities of another player during his turn.
All other players must now complete their networks (in sequence) to get the final scoring for the round. You should select the shortest route to complete your network.
Once all players have completed their networks, they must all click on "Continue" to start the next round.
All players start with 13 points. If a player, after scoring for a round reaches zero or less, then the game ends. The player with the most points wins. If more than one player has the most points then it is a tie.
