In the protection of the castle is a tactical building game, in which you have to obtain raw materials and money with the help of various personal cards. This allows you to expand the castle and use your own help as profitable as possible.
The field can be moved vertically either by means of a mouse wheel or pressed right mouse button.
The player's name and raw material stocks are displayed (name, sand, wood, brick, stone, silver, thaler). There are also small icons in the course of the game, which means:
Each player receives eight personal cards, 3x valley, 1x sand and 1x wood at the beginning. Furthermore, six (seven in the two-game) helpers in his color.
The game runs at 2/3/4 people over 12/15/12 rounds.
At the beginning of the round, the starter receives the valley from the round display.
After that, all players choose one of their personal cards that they want to play in this round (in the two game each chooses two cards). To do this, you drive with the mouse over your own player display. Your own cards will be folded out. Already played cards are darkly underlaid and can no longer be selected.
If each player has chosen, all cards are uncovered at the same time and always negotiated in exactly this order:
If several players have selected the same card, it is executed in player order.
Once all played cards have been negotiated, the next round follows. The starter changes clockwise. Played cards remain open and can no longer be selected until the builder is played (see builder).
The player receives eight thalers from the bank.
The dealer places a helper on a free raw material field (fenders or riders).
On each field of raw materials only a Sit down. If all fleets are occupied, the player may choose whether to place his aids on the rider or to displace one of the aids on the fleets. If the rider is also occupied, it may also be displaced. In principle, however, it is important that no aid should be displaced in the Current round was used. All aids remain in their place until they are either displaced or taken away from the owner to be placed in the castle (see Steinmetz and Maurer).

If no dealer card was discovered, there are no raw materials.
The dealer can also be played without using a remedy. Raw materials are still available for all dealers.
Each player who receives raw materials through a trader must: each obtained variety immediately Part Pay tribute to the Wehrturm (follows automatically).

Then the mason can build up to two buildings. In this case, it receives for each Raw material part a valley from the bank. So he only gets Thaler and No Winning points for building!
If at least one building has been built, the mason may still be up to two aids in the castle.
The stonemasons are allowed to buy a raw material from the working card to all players who have played a worker in this round. If there are several stone chips, this is also the case in player order.
To do this, the card window is opened on the right side and the desired raw material is clicked on.

As soon as the personal cards are uncovered, the corresponding raw materials are placed on each recorded work card.
This worker gets fixed 1x stone. Two other raw materials may be chosen freely (no stone, no silver). To do this, simply click on the desired raw materials below the map and confirm its selection with the OK arrow that appears thereupon.
However, the player only receives the raw materials (automatically) when the workers are in line. For possibly present stonemasons could decimate the stock beforehand.

If the builder card is played, the player will take back all his previously played cards. The building master card may never when all eight cards are still on hand!

Moors, stonemasons and workers can build up to two buildings in their train.
On the schedule there are 23 buildings that can be built. At the top of the left, the respective victory point number is displayed, which is won by a stone chip during the construction of the building. Workers get half the score.

For each building, at least: three different Raw materials are used. The construction price must always accurate fit to be paid. Overpayments are not possible!
In the construction phase, all buildings that have not yet been built and could be built with the available raw materials are underlaid green. You just click on a building. The selection can be changed at any time by simply clicking on another building.
The raw material selection window is now obtained for the last selected building. Here, a selection of raw materials is already made in such a way that the cheapest raw materials are first used up. With the help of the question mark in the upper right corner, you can set various constellations that always provide exactly the desired building value. Of course, the raw materials can also be adjusted manually by means of the arrows above and below the respective raw materials. As soon as or as long as a checkout is displayed in the right lower corner, the construction price can be paid to fit and thus the building can be built. If you have set the desired combination of raw materials, you can confirm the construction by clicking on the check box.
Silver counts as a joker for any type of raw material. Each silver used then moves into the forging.
Maurer and Steinmetze may use up to two aids in the castle in your train (not to be confused with the dealer's aids on the raw materials fields!).
Aids may only be used if masons or stonemasons have built at least one building.
Helpers can be placed within the castle on the valleys of all already built buildings. The corresponding Thaler Prize must be paid for this. Market and forgings are considered to be built and can be occupied from the beginning.
The aids in the castle bring in the final evaluation points according to the building in which they are located. More detailed on the building side.
The game ends after 12 or 15 rounds. For the rare case that all buildings were installed before the end of the prescribed number of rounds, the game ends in the round where the last building was built.
Now the winning points for all aids (not the dealer aids) are evaluated (see building page).
If you were able to win most win points, the game will win. At the same time, the number of valleys is considered Tiebreaker. If the same is true, the raw material countsValue (not the number of raw materials!) of the raw materials still owned.
