Saint Petersburg takes place, as the name suggests, in Petersburg. The players collect workers, buildings and aristocrats. Money is always tight. You need tostart employing a workforce to bring in the money. But to win the game, you must gain the most Victory points. You achieve this through buildings or by luring aristocrats to your area.
The game can be difficult, as it punishes any small errors in your game play. It possesses a deep, strategic long-term attraction. Special cards, like the observatory, make different options available.
Saint Petersburg won Deutschen Spielepreises 2004 and was nominated for Spiel des Jahres 2004.
