Because of “Good luck!” An insidious saboteur has smuggled himself into the midst of the hard-working gold-digging dwarves and is trying to paralyze his colleagues' search for the gold vein! Suddenly paths disappear, pointed axes break, or false paths are dug. But who could it be? Is there even one, or are there several? Is it you – or you? In Saboteur (almost) all players pull together and (almost) all win and lose together!
Depending on the number of players, each player receives path and action cards as well as a dwarf card . The latter must be kept top secret and decides who is a gold digger and who is a saboteur in this game round. One card is placed on the table as the starting card, with three face-down target cards at some distance from it, one of which contains the gold treasure. In turn, all players use their route cards to expand the tunnel in order to create a connection from the start card to one of the destination cards. Everyone...except the saboteurs! You can also pretend to build the tunnel system, but you can also use action cards that cause the tunnel to collapse or destroy another player's digging equipment. Of course, the gold diggers can also use action cards to slow down supposed saboteurs.
The end of the game is reached when the treasure is discovered or the last card is played. Now the saboteurs will be revealed and there will be a reckoning! If they win, the gold-seeking dwarves divide the treasure among themselves. If they don't find the treasure, the saboteurs win and are happy about the golden reward of their clandestine efforts.
Saboteur is a slightly different placement game that offers many tactical options thanks to the additional action cards . The secret distribution of the roles at the beginning gives the game a bluff element, which turns every new game into an entertaining adventure with an uncertain outcome. Who will win? We'll see - at the latest when we get revenge!
